Thanks James for posting this up and for the detailed run report. I'm going to have a go this Friday (19 August). I'll be heading clockwise from White Wells in Ilkley. Planning to be self-supported and to try and break 10 hours. Wish me luck!

I don’t think there is a “standard route” and I’ve only ever heard locals call it “the cirque.” I’ve never heard “the ring of fire”—seems like a silly name in any case. For what it’s worth. I’ll do a speed attempt on it this fall.
