Clingman's Dome is the highest point in Tennessee, the highest point along the Appalachian Trail, and the second highest point in North Carolina!

Ascent:  Begin at the Deep Creek Trailhead and ascend to the Pole Road Trail, then on to the Noland Divide Trail which joins the Clingman's Dome Road. Continue to the left (uphill) on Clingman's Dome Road 1.0 mile to the Clingman's Dome Parking lot, and continue up Clingman's Dome Trail to the summit!  Note there is no up & down FKT for this route. If you want to return to the TH take the Loop variation below.

Ascent:  Begin at the Noland's Creek Trail Head and ascend Noland's Creek to the Springhouse Branch Trail, and then onto the Forney Ridge Trail, and finally on to the Clingman's Dome Trail. Note:  There is no up & down FKT on this route.  If you want to return to your starting point take the loop variation below!

Big Loop:  Begin at the Elkmont area Little River Trail head, then continue onto Huskey Gap Trail, Sugarlands Mountain Trail, Appalachian Trail (Southbound) to the summit of Clingman's Dome! Then continue Southbound to Miry Ridge Trail, Jakes Creek Trail, and return to the TH via the 0.2 mile road section.  35.2 miles / 6000' gain.
