    Jason: 1,000 submissions in 2020 is a reasonable guess - since Peter reviews each one, I just hope it's not too much work for him!  2019 totaled 664 in NA and 175 in Europe for 839 - I could add in everywhere else, but think we're 900+ worldwide.

    I certainly wouldn't say it matters. It might be vaguely easier to go southbound; that makes it so the only real incline is early on.

    Good call out.  Death Valley is amazing - lots of hidden (and some not so hidden) gems there.  The N-S Crossing is ... Jason said it!  Way too hard for me.  "Salt to Snow" OTOH is reasonable (Badwater to Telescope Peak).
