What You Need to Know After 12 years and three record attempts, Joe “Stringbean” McConaughy broke the supported record on the John Muir Trail—arguably the most competitive Fastest Known Time (FKT) in the world. He finished the 223-mile route through California’s Sierra Nevada in two days, 16 hours, and 15 seconds to shave nearly three and a half hours off of François D’Haene’s nine-year-old record. McConaughy attributes his 12 years of experience on the route along with a stellar crew willing to tackle complicated logistics and pace up to 40-mile sections to his success. He and one of his pacers, Caroline Himbert (who set her own FKT on the JMT this summer), spoke with author Emily Halnon for this story.

This is not the original route! The real route is about 160 km long.   https://www.bergfex.at/sommer/kaernten/touren/wanderung/613141,lavantta… https://www.alpenverein.at/wolfsberg/berichte/wanderwege/2020-07-22-Lav… https://www.komoot.com/de-de/… read more »

I know that it's not the FKT, but I might as well throw it out there, I did 2 reps, and the first one just up was 51:38  https://strava.app.link/rf1VZgXCtNb

I did this a few days ago, not an FKT, but up there in top times. The GPS cut put a bit part way up, but obviously you can tell that I did it. https://strava.app.link/Q9EVh9JCtNb Do you put new times up even if they are not the fastest?
